Let Veneers Give You a New Smile

Stop dreaming of a beautiful smile and turn to veneers to make it happen.

Getting a smile that is just as perfect as the ones you see on the big screen doesn’t have to be that difficult. Anyone can enjoy a smile that veneersis red carpet-worthy. “How?” you might be wondering. Well, with dental veneers. Our Ormond Beach, FL dentists, Dr. Brian Yoon and Dr. Florence Yoon, are here to tell you more about these popular tooth-colored cosmetic restorations and how they could help your smile.

What are dental veneers?

It’s important to understand what veneers are so you know what they can do for your smile. These thin, porcelain shells are customized to cover the entire front surface of a tooth to improve the overall shape, color, and alignment of your smile. Once the veneers are made they will be bonded to the front of your teeth to hide imperfections and to enhance your appearance.

What goes into getting dental veneers?

It’s also important to understand the process to better decide whether this is the right cosmetic treatment for you. First of all, our Ormond Beach general dentists need to examine your mouth to make sure that your teeth are healthy and strong enough to support veneers. We will also sit down and discuss your treatment goals to make sure that they align with what veneers can offer. From there, here are the steps to getting veneers.

Step 1: We need to prepare the teeth for your new restorations. This requires us to remove some enamel from the front of your teeth to make room for your veneers. Depending on how much enamel must be removed, we will determine whether or not local anesthesia will be needed. Most of the time this can be done without anesthesia, but this will depend on your level of tooth sensitivity.

Step 2: Now it’s time to take impressions of your teeth. These molds will provide the dental lab with the exact replica it needs to help build and create veneers that will fit perfectly over the front of your teeth. It can take up to a week for a dental lab to create your veneers. In the meantime, we will determine whether you will need temporary veneers to provide your teeth with some protection.

Step 3: You will come back to the office for your dental veneer fitting! Once we ensure that you are happy with the results we will apply a resin to the front of the teeth, apply the veneers and then harden the resin into place using a dental laser. With a final polish of your veneers, your new smile is good to go!
